Ben Johnston
Ben Johnston is a licensed agent with 22 years of experience in the industry, 20 of those as an Erie Agent. Ben graduated with his bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Pittsburgh in 1999, and began his insurance career in 2000 as an auto and home claims adjuster.
Ben has a wide range of insurance expertise, including personal lines, commercial lines, workers’ compensation, and life insurance. He has written more than 10,000 policies protecting his customers with competitively priced, high-quality coverage that meets their specific needs. Now, as Principal Agent at Masters Insurance Services in the Pittsburgh area, Ben is continuing his Agency’s legacy of personalized customer service.
“We are very conscious of the history, trust, and sense of community created by Bob Masters and his mother, Janet, when they founded the Masters Agency in 1992,” Ben explains. “We know that our clients rely on us to help protect what is most important to them, and we are proud to be continuing that legacy.”
Ben is a western Pennsylvania native. He enjoys spending time biking and skiing with his wife and two children
Bob Masters
Agency founder, Bob Masters, has been in the insurance industry since 1992. He received a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Bob holds the Life Underwriting Training Council Fellow (LUTCF) designation and works with Forest Hills Police Department as an Auxiliary Officer giving back to the community. He and his late mother, Janet Masters, started the agency together in 1992, and had the distinction of being one of the few mother-son operated agencies with ERIE. Over the years, they molded a successful, well-respected business within their community. They were co-owners until Janet’s untimely passing in March 2015. She is fondly remembered by many clients, friends, and family members.
Jennifer Perry
Jen is native of Forest Hills, PA. She began working in the property and casualty insurance industry in 2012 in New York where she was licensed in 48 states. She then brought her experience to Masters Insurance in 2014 where she strives to bring her upbeat energy and focus on efficiency to the office on a daily basis. Outside the office Jen enjoys spending time with her friends and family cheering on her favorite hockey and football teams.
Sarah Johnston
Born and raised in Western Pennsylvania, Sarah brings the best from her years of professional experience. In addition to currently working as a music professional & voiceover artist, some of her background includes working for the Governor of Pennsylvania, a local radio station, and most recently the Fox Chapel Area School District where she spent most of her time in Administration. Sarah enjoys working with others and her years of working in both the private and public sectors make her just the right person to get to know our clients and assist them with their needs. Sarah and her husband have two children and currently reside in Pittsburgh.
Von Marie Byran - Retired 8/2022 – Good Luck
Von started with Masters Insurance in 2004. She came to our agency having many years of Property & Casualty and Life Insurance experience, to include working for Prudential & Amica. She has a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology and is also a retired Army Reserve Officer with two deployments to the Middle East! Von has been an instrumental part of our agency throughout the years, juggling a full time job, family & the Army Reserves. She is licensed in both P&C and Life!
